Dramatic decline of cheetahs in the Maasaï-Mara

A very serious and rare scientific study conducted by Dr Femke Broekhuis -she runs the Mara Cheetah Project on the behalf on Kenya Wildlife Trust (KWT)- concludes that the number of cheetahs has been overestimated...

... and that there is a dramatic decline of cheetahs in the Maasaï-Mara and the conservancies. Only 32 cheetahs are present on 2400 km2...

That's what we unhappily observed since many years and why we launched the Cheetah For Ever program.

The results of the scientific study have been published recently in PlosOne 2016. The paper (pdf) is available freely on the PlosOne site.
